Supporting this levy is vital to maintaining and expanding the recreational opportunities that enhance the health and well-being of our entire community.

Importantly, this is not a new tax—for just an additional $16 a year on a $100K home, we can ensure that our parks, programs, and facilities continue to thrive without needing to come back for more funding every few years. We've been conservative with our budget to avoid repeated levies, and your support helps us stay ahead. While you're familiar with Pacesetter Park, Tam-O-Shanter, and our growing Pickleball scene, what we do goes far beyond that. From kid's athletics and the community pool to maintaining our parks and swimming quarry, this levy impacts all aspects of the Sylvania community, keeping it vibrant and connected for all.

Sylvania Recreation employed over 150 summer/seasonal employees this summer and as many as 187 in recent years, making this the first job for so many teens and young adults.

In 2024, the current 1.25 mills levy will generate $1.7 million, but with voter approval of the replacement levy, an additional $560,000 will bring the total to $2.26 million annually. This means a homeowner with a $200,000 home will see an increase of just $28 per year, paying $88 annually. This levy combines two existing levies, one from 1988 and another from 2012, into a single permanent levy. These additional funds are critical for both operating expenses and much-needed capital improvements, like asphalt repairs, which currently receive very limited funding. This will help maintain the quality of facilities and programs while allowing for necessary upgrades, ensuring we continue to meet community needs without frequent levy increases.

Access to parks and recreation has significant benefits on mental and physical health, real estate sales, social activities for all ages.
